6th Annual Cumberland Motorcycle Roundup - 2014

The 6th Annual Cumberland Motorcycle Roundup (CMR) will be held in the Village of Cumberland, Vancouver Island, British Columbia on August 9th and August 10th, 2014.
The 5th Annual Roundup was a huge success and we hope to see everyone back again this year. Roughly 4000 people and 1600 bikes showed up for the Show and Shine and 230 bikes registered for the Tom Carpenter Poker Run. We received rave reviews in the local Comox Valley Echo and in The Busted Knuckle Chronicles.
For those of you who missed out on a 2013 CMR T-shirt, they can still be purchased through Fineline Embroidery. Each year our rally T shirts are a new original custom design. This 2014 CMR rally we will be creating a new ADDITIONAL custom designed shirt and patches for the Tom Carpenter Poker Run. 2013's T shirts will be available to purchase at the 2014 rally.
Friday Night All Star Wrestling
On Friday, August 8th, at the Cumberland Recreational Institute there will be professional wrestling matches brought to you by All Star Wrestling. Tickets are $15 Front Row and $12 General Adminssion. Please view this brochure for more information.
This year the CMR will be holding a dance on Saturday night. The doors will open at 8:00 pm immediatley following the bike games. The band this year is Machine Gun Kelly. There will be a silent auction and lots of door prizes as well as a 50/50 draw. $10 tickets will be available all day at the event up till 8 pm, but will NOT be available at the door.
There will be a Texas Barbeque providing deliciious food right outside the doors of the dance. Also, a shuttle service will be provided by the Comox Valley Taxi Service at very reasonable rates. The cost will be $6 each way to Courtenay, $2 to the Village park, and $4 to Comox Lake. The shuttle will be picking up people for the dance at the Courtenay Travel Lodge at 7:30 and 8:30 pm. The last shuttle in to the Travel Lodge in Courtenay is at 1:30 am.
Westcoast Freestyle Motorcycle Stunt Team
Sponsored by the Cumberland Hotel, the CMR is pleased to announce the Westcoast Freestyle
Motorcycle Sport Bike Stunt Team will be returning again this year. Based out of Vancouver, these are some of the most talented riders in Canada who will be performing wheelies, burnouts, acrobatics, smoke-shows and stoppies on their amazing sport bikes. The team will be performing two shows Aug 9th on Dunsmuir Ave. The first at 12:00 pm and the second at 3:00 pm.
These are a friendly bunch of guys who will be happy to explain all their tricks, and there will be free signed posters for the kids. Admission is free, so please come out and enjoy this exciting show, take pictures of the motorcycles and meet these incredible riders!
Pole Fitness by Femme Natales
We are happy to announce the return of Femme Natales for another one of their popular pole fitness demonstrations. We are also super happy to announce that Nadyne, one of Femme Natales instuctors, won the Canadian pole dance championships last year.
Femme Natales will be performing in the Waverly Hotel on Saturday, August 9th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.

1st Prize: The Passenger Participation Mail Flight with CORILAIR for 2
The mail flight operates year round, departing Campbell River every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1pm PST (local time and weather pending). Flight times vary depending on routing and amount of stops for that day.
On average the trip time is approximately 1.5 hours. At each of the mail stops passengers are encouraged to participate in delivering the mail with the pilot. They allow for 15-20 minutes at each of the mail locations. The routing depends on what stops they have that day, they go to each of the mail locations but also, since this is a working flight, they deliver people and freight to various other locales (Fishing resorts, private residences, logging camps etc)
2nd Prize: "Discover Lund" Package for 2
It includes two nights accommodation in SunLund's Camper's Cabana, a 2-3 hour kayak tour of Lund Harbour, and dinner for two at the Boardwalk Restaurant. Total value $270.00.
3rd Prize: "Prince of Whales" Whale Watching for 2
3 Hours of Guided Whale Watching from Victoria on the Ocean Magic Adventure for 2 people. Your tour will include various stops at different points of interest within the protected waters of Haro Strait and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. While on scene with whales and other marine wildlife, the vessel will be positioned parallel to the animals which allows for excellent photo opportunities. Plus, you will be fully entertained and educated by up to three of the industry’s most highly trained marine naturalists all the while.

Show and Shine
On Saturday, August 9th, a Show and Shine will take place from 11:00 am till 5:00 pm with registration taking place from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The general public are encouraged to come out and view the bikes on main street Dunsmuir Avenue. There is no admission fee for spectators. A MIST TENT will be available all day in Village Square. Dunsmuir Avenue will be blocked off to vehicle traffic, except motorcycles, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. We will try to find the owners of vehicles parked on the side of the road after 9:00 am but in the event we are unable to do so, the vehicles will be towed at the owners expense. Show and Shine judging will be at 1:00 pm, with awards for 1st and 2nd given out between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm along with many other prizes, raffles and draws. Registration cost for the Show and Shine is $10.00 per bike. There will be live music on the street during the Show and Shine. Bands TBA. We'd also like to welcome Tank the Robot this year.

Beer gardens open at 4:00 pm and bike games start at 5:00 pm. Don't miss the action at the Burnout Pit, also located at the bike games. Friends of the Burnout Pit are Gary Marcus Trucking and 3rd CAV. A Tattoo Art Competition, with a $5 entry fee, will begin at 12:30 pm and end at 1:30 pm. There will be live music at the King George Hotel featuring Boondock (no cover charge), and two Lingerie shows by Lee-Ann Dixon with UndercoverWear, 250-218-1758, at the Cumberland Hotel. The first show is at 12:30 pm and the second show is at 2:00 pm. Performing between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm at the Wavery Hotel will be the sexy girls from Femme Natale's Pole Fitness. Made up of Luna, Leah, Carla, Lisa and Katie, these five women have been dancing together for more than three years, bringing their different styles to co-create unique and exciting Middle Eastern and Fusion original choreographies.

Things To Do And Places To Stay
A variety of booths will display everything from motorcycles to leather clothing, tattoos and biker paraphernalia. There are numerous pubs and restaurants on the main street in Cumberland for bikers and visitors to kick back and enjoy excellent food and refreshments, and entertainment. Don't miss the entertainment Saturday night at the Cumberland and Waverly hotels.The Comox Valley has numerous hotels and motels for bikers who wish to spend the night. Comox Lake, located in Cumberland, is only 3 ½ miles away from the downtown area for those who wish a refreshing swim or a forested drive to this recreational area. Camping is available at the lake at the Cumberland Lake Park Campground. For reservations call 250-336-2144. There will also be camping available IN TOWN at the Cumberland Park on both Friday and Saturday nights. Cost is $10 per person to camp for the weekend. A bike lock up will be provided. Tom Carpenter Poker Run
On Sunday, August 10th, the Tom Carpenter Poker Run will entail a scenic ride through the Comox Valley including a stop on our beautiful Mt Washington. There will be a terrific buffet provided by Mt. Washington Alpine Resort at a reasonable cost, and a free ride up the ski lift for the driver OR the passenger to get the fourth card....so bringing a light jacket is advisable, as it might be a bit cool while enjoying the breathtaking scenery. Five cards will be given at five locations. At each location there will be an extra prize on view at each table. Dropping a loonie in the metal can provided will get you a draw for that prize at the end of the run. Also all five cans will be consolidated for a sixth consolation prize. The final card will be collected at the Cumberland Hotel, where you can also purchase, if you choose, two option cards at $5 each. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the Poker Run, as well as the lowest hand, so don't give up! There will also be MANY other raffle prizes available at the last stop.

Registration for the Tom Carpenter Poker Run will be at the Village Square from 8:00 am until 10:00 am and the cost is $10.00 per bike. There will be a 50/50 draw at 10:00 am. At 10:15 am there will be a briefing about the ride and after that everyone is free to begin the run. However, registration will be open to 11:00 am for latecomers. For those people travelling to and from Vancouver Island on the BC Ferries, our Poker Run motorcycles arrive at the Cumberland Hotel for their final card between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Our draws and raffles are over by 4:30 pm, and there is plenty of time to head back to our ferry terminal which is about an hour away. Motorcycles have priority loading on BC Ferries, and never have to wait in lineups! Contact Marc Lemay for more information.
