On Sunday August 12th the Fistful of Dollars Poker Run will entail a scenic ride through the Comox Valley including a stop on our beautiful Mt Washington. There will be a terrific buffet provided by Mt. Washington Ski Hill at a reasonable cost, and a free ride up the ski lift for the driver OR the passenger to get the fourth card....so bringing a light jacket is advisable, as it might be a bit cool. Five cards will be given out at five locations. The final card will be collected at the Cumberland Hotel where there will be lots of great draws and prizes, even if you don't have the winning hand! Click here for a pdf map of the route. Start the day off with a Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Cumberland Rotory (again) beginning at 9am.
Registration for the Fistful of Dollars Poker Run will be at the Village Square from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm and the cost is $10.00 per bike. At 11:00 am there will be a briefing about the ride and at that point everyone is free to begin the run. However, registration will be open until 12:00 pm for all those who arrive later. For those people travelling to and from Vancouver Island on the BC Ferries, our Poker Run motorcycles arrive at the Cumberland Hotel for their final card between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Our draws and raffles are over by 4:30 pm, and there is plenty of time to head back to our ferry terminal which is about an hour away. Motorcycles have priority loading on our ferries, and never have to wait in line ups!
The entire business community will be ‘leathered up’, and a variety of booths will display everything from motorcycles to leather clothing, tattoos and biker paraphernalia. There are numerous pubs and restaurants on the main street in Cumberland for bikers and visitors to kick back and enjoy excellent food and refreshments, and entertainment. The Comox Valley has numerous hotels and motels for bikers who wish to spend the night. Comox Lake, located in Cumberland, is only 3 ½ miles away from the downtown area for those who wish a refreshing swim or a forested drive to this recreational area. Camping is available at the lake at the Cumberland Lake Park Campground. For reservations call 250-336-2144. There will also be camping available IN TOWN at the Cumberland Park .
